TEHRAN -- A Persian translation of the first volume of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” book series will be released for Iranian children.
Written by American author Jeff Kinney, the book is being translated into Persian by Parvin Alipur. She will soon begin to negotiate with a publisher to publish the book. The book series consists of novels in cartoon form and have remained on The New York Times Best Seller list of children’s books for 74 weeks as of June 23, 2010.
The first copy was released in 2007. It features the story of the wimpy kid Greg in middle school who longs to be recognized and respected by others. “I’ll be famous one day but for now I am stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons,” thinks Greg to himself.
The first volume is about Greg Rowley and the Cheese. The second is about Greg and his friend Rodrick and the third is about Greg and his dad. The fourth centers on a summer holiday and the fifth is on the way.
“The Persian volume will also contain some of the handwritten notes by Greg along with some of the cartoons,” she told the Persian service of MNA.
A movie by the same name was released on March 19, 2010. It stars Zachary Gordon as Greg Heffley and Robert Capron as Rowley Jefferson.
